Office, Feb. 14, 1863 Card 3 CERTIFICATE OF DISABILITY FOR DISCHARGE. James H. Stamper, of Captain Charles E. Stevenson Company (A,) of the _____ Regiment of Confederate States Cavalry, was enlisted by Chas. E. Stevenson, of the _____ Regiment of Cavly at Lebanon VA on the 5th day of August 1862, to serve 3 years; he was born in Ash County in the State of North Carolina, is twenty five years of age, five feet, 5 inches high, light complexion, blue eyes, light hair, and by occupation when enlisted a farmer. During the last two months said soldier has been unfit for duty 60 days. [...] I CERTIFY, that I have carefully examined the said Jas. H. Stamper of Captain Stevensons Company, and find him incapable of performing the duties of a soldier because of because of a disabled leg resulting from caries of the bone (tibia) He is in my judgement unfit for any military duty.
