I CERTIFY, That the within named Eli Stapleton a private of Captain L. H. N. Salyer's Company (H) of the 50th Regiment of Virginia Infantry, born in Scott County in the State of Virginia, aged About 35 years, 5 feet, 10 inches high, dark complexion, black eyes, black hair, and by occupation a farmer, was enlisted by Capt. L. H. N. Salyer at Scott County Va on the 2nd day of April 1862, to serve three years and died at Russell County Va on the 18th April 1862.
