Reverend Robert Cross and wife Elizabeth - Served in 48th Virginia Infantry. Enlisted on 6/25/61 as private, later elected to Lieutenant. On 1860 Russell County Census as 21 years old and a school teacher. Wounded in action 8/9/62 at Cedarville, sent to hospital at Charlottesville and then to Lynchburg. Wounded in action at Gettysburg. Resigned his commission 10/1/63. Died of cancer of the jaw, face, nose, and throat, 8/23/1922.
