"You will no doubt be surprized..." Letter of David C. Whitt David Crockett Whitt enlisted on 4/2/1862 in Tazewell, Va in the 29th Virginia Infantry Regiment. He was captured on 4/6/1865 near Farmville and sent to Point Lookout Prison in Maryland. He was release on 6/22/1865. Letter 1 - written May 30th, 1865 from Point Lookout Prison.
