Obituary of John Tyler Gibson

March 6, 1925

Member of 29th Va., Regiment Is Dead

At the advanced age of a little more than eighty-three years and six months, Tyler Gibson, who saw service in the sixties as a member of the old 29th Virginia Regiment, quietly passed on at 6 o'clock Monday evening, March 2, 1925, at the home of George M. Garrett, in Lebanon.

The deceased had been sick but a few days but had been gradually on the decline for a long while and his death was no surprise.

Our departed friend was a Christian and a loyal member of the Methodist church from which place the funeral was held Tuesday afternoon conducted by Revs. Helvey and Fuller.

Twelve children survive, namely, H. M. Gibson, C. W. Gibson, A. P. Gibson, J. H. Gibson, Mrs. Tom Ferguson, Mrs. Fred Campbell, Mrs. G. M. Garrett, Mrs. Ed Musick and Mrs. Jane Tate.
