Isaac V. Reynolds to His Wife
Camp Muddy Creek Dear wife As I have the opportunity or sending a letter I thought I would write again. I wrote one some 7 or 8 days ago to send by J. B. McFadden and he was detained longer than he expected, so I will end both and not much at that. Nothing of importance has transpired since I wrote the other. We are on Muddy Creek yet, picketing some ten miles from camp. Our pickets hasn been surprised for some time. We sent a party of dismounted men down to try there pickets, who returned yesterday evening. They captured one and killed one of the yanks. We are expecting another suprise of the pickets shortly. They left word they would be up and releave our pickets again in ten days. I think we will make them tired of the job it they are not very carefull when they come again. William Monk is only captured, he was reported killed at first, he is not. I havent much of interest to write at the present. I will try and do better when I write again. You wrant to hear from Morgen I know. He is doing well, geting fat fast. I am well, harty and I hope these lines may find you all in the same fix. I will quit as it is geting dark. Write as soon as you can, give all the news of the country. Direct to Lewisburg Va Co (A) 16 Va Cavl. Nothing more at present write soon.
