Isaac V. Reynolds to His Wife

Camp Comfort
April 10th 1863

Dear Wife

I seat myself again to write you a few lines to inform you that I am well, hoping when these lines come to hand they will find you well.

I want you to try and get me a pair boot made against I come home. Get the old man to buy me a small thin hip skin that will make them, I will pay for it when I come home. Have them made long in the legs, get Straly to make them. Have me a pair of pants made also, for I dont expect to stay at home long when we come, if we come at all.

We may not get to come after our horses, there is a great dele of sickness here now, more than has been through the winter. They buried one of the Tazewell men out at town today. We have some cases of Fever in our company, I will give the names. James E. Todd, he is at a private house in the country, he is on the mend. Jetty is another, he was sent to the hospitle a few days ago, he is very poorly today. John Monk is at the hospitle too, sick with jaundice. James Logan, Jack Campbell and James Cumbo.

I expect the rest of us will be in the hospitle if we dont leave this place before long. The weather is geting warm and it dont suit us to stay so long in one place. Have our lambs aultered right off before the weather gets any warmer. Take good care or things at home especily provision. Nothing more at this time. Only remain your affectionate husband until death.

I V Reynolds

please kiss my two little boys for me and save one for me when I come home.
