March 2, 1914 C. W. ALDERSON PASSES AWAY
Charles W. Alderson, died Monday at his home at Meadow View. Mr. Alderson was sixty-nine years old and was a prominent and highly respected citizen.
Mr. Alderson's death was caused by dropsy. He is survived by six children - four sons and two daughters. He was born at Lebanon, Russell county, Virginia, and moved to Washington county just before the civil [war]. He served during the civil war, entering at the age of eighteen. He was a son of Christopher Alderson, of Lebanon, Va., and is survived by one brother - Dr. J. D. Alderson, of Meadow View, and one sister, Mrs. Mattie Preston, of Meadow View. The surviving sons and daughters are: J. D. Alderson Jr., of Three Springs, Mrs. Mattie Childers and Mrs. Graham, of Macon, Ga,; Chas. Alderson and Andrew Alderson, of Marion, Ills., and Henry Alderson of the U. S. Army, stationed at Ft. Monroe, Va.
Mr. Alderson represented Washington county in the Virginia legislature in 1902.
