Obituary of Isaiah Drake Ball
July 1, 1921 Dead at Age of Eighty
I. D. Ball, aged eighty, died here at the residence of his son-in-law, Dr. Ben W. Bird, Wednesday. He had been in feeble health for many months, his advanced age precluded any hope of relief. After a brief service at the home yesterday morning, the remains were taken to Roanoke for interment, beside those of his wife who preceded him to the grave many years ago. He leaves eight children, all of whom are grown, Mrs. W. N. Surface, of Nor[...] Rev. W. L. Ball, of Spartensburg, S. C., C. A. Ball, of Roanoke; John K. Ball, F. L. Ball, H. H. Ball and Harold W. Ball, of this city. For many years prior to his death the deceased was an active member of the Baptist church noted for his devout life and his great piety. He was among our most highly respected citizen and his passing calls forth much sympathy for those who were near and close to him.
