Capt. John W. Ball Dies in Oklahoma
The belated news of the death of Capt. John W. Ball, which occurred November 7, at his home in Oklahoma, reaches us. He was a native of New Garden and left this section soon after the Civil War and his visits back to the land of his nativity were few.
At the outbreak of the Civil War he cast his lot with the Confederacy and was made captain of a company, serving with distinction.
He was thrice married, his first wife being a sister to Reynolds Fuller, of Big A Mountain. To this union five children survive. He has many relatives in this section.
