OBITUARY
Francis Marion Blair was born in Russell county, Va., June 3, 1843, died August 10, 1909, at 1:00 a. m. Funeral services were held at the house, and conducted by Rev. Lucas, of Lee's Summit, at 5 o'clock, August 10, a large crowd attending. He united with the Baptist church at the age of 23, and was married in 1863 to Miss Martha Thacker. Of this marriage nine children were born, eight of whom, with his widow, survive him, and were present with him in his last hours of suffering.
Mr. Blair had been a constant sufferer for the past three years, but he suffered with the calm patience of a Christian. He was ready to meet his Master in the land where there is no suffering, no trials and sorrow; all of which is a source of joy and consolation to his loved ones left behind. Personally we know him to have been a good and kind neighbor, as well as father and husband. We extend our sincere sympathy to the family, and the wish that they may be able to say, "Thy will be done," knowing that it will only be a short time until they will meet once more where there will be no more sad partings, but one glad reunion.
