June 19, 1908 Capt. Jack Carter Dead.
The news of Capt. Jack Carter's death, which occurred at Carterton on the 8th did not reach Lebanon in time for last week's paper. His death was expected as he had been in bad health for months.
Capt. Carter was one of the county's most prominent citizens. Some years ago he represented this Senatorial District in the Virginia State Senate.
He was considered among the wealthiest men of the county, leaving an estate worth fifty or sixty thousand dollars.
Mr. Carter was about 72 years of age and is survived by a wife much younger.
