Obituary of John Taylor Carter

June 11, 1908 Old Veteran Passes Away. On last Monday Captain Jack Carter died at his home at Carterton, Russell county, Va. He was the last surviving son of the Hon. Dale Carter, who in ante bellum days was, perhaps, the most prominent and wealthy citizen of Russell county. Capt. Carter at one session of the General Assembly represented his country in the House of Delegates. For some years he has taken no active part in public affairs. He was a gallant Confederate soldier and a man of strong intellect.
