March 15, 1918 FIELDING COMBS DEAD
In the death of Fielding Combs, in Lower New Garden, last Friday the county lost one of its best and prominent men. He had been sick for some time, and gradually he passed down life's decline, finally crossing the river beyond where lies the real and true life.
His record as a member of the 16th Virginia Cavalry was that of a brave, fearless soldier, always showing bravery on the field of battle.
