First Fife Blower Dies In Honaker

Lowrey Cox Played Fife In Lebanon While First Confederate Co., Was Being Organized
When Lowrey Cox died near Honaker last week he left behind only twelve Johnny Rebs in Russell county who fought under the Confederate flag.
Lowrey Cox was as brave as any soldier who carried the old army musket, never flinching at any call.
There is something else about this old warrior that readers do not know. When the first company was being organized in Lebanon Lowery Cox thrilled the volunteers with music from his fife.
Funeral services were conducted from the home and burial was in the Hubbard cemetery.
