Obituary of William Patton Dickenson

February 1, 1935

W. P. Dickenson, 92, Passes On

W. P. Dickenson, 91, one among the oldest Confederate soldiers of Russell, died Friday nite at the home of his son, John Dickenson, near Carterton.

Mr. Dickenson was well known and had many relatives and friends throughout the county who will be grieved to hear of his going.

Death followed a period of declining health that beset him when he fell last summer and suffered a fractured hip.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 11 a. m., at the family home.

Surviving are the following sons and daughters; Mrs. Bonnie Fuller, of Kingsport; Mrs. Tivis Jessee, of Danville, Ky,; John D. Dickenson, of Carterton; Mrs. Farley Dickenson, of Bluefield, and Mrs. Ester Stamper, of Princeton, W. Va.
