Obituary of William Dills

August 3, 1923

An aged and respected citizen of West Paintsville passes away.

Uncle Wm Dills, Sr., who has resided in West Paintsville for many years, died at his home Saturday morning at an early hour and was buried in the Turner cemetery, about one mile west of Paintsville. He had been sick for about two weeks, suffering from a complication of diseases due to his advanced age.

Mr. Dills was an old Confederate veteran of the Civil War and was in his 75th year. He was known to almost every man in the county, was a law-abiding citizen and had the respect of the good citizens of his neighborhood.

He as the father of a large family of children, several of whom preced him to the Great Beyond. Those living are: Jim, Tom, George, Jesse, Ed and Roy Dills, all of whom were at his bedside when the end came.

The Herald, together with the people of Paintsville extend sympathy to the family.
