John A. Fields Answers Final Call
John A. Fields, member of the 16th Virginia Cavalry of the Confederate Army, died last week at the home of a son near Holston, Washington county.
Much has been said about the gallantry of the soldier boys of the old 16th, and Fields is said to have been as fearless as the bravest and was in many hot engagements.
The deceased was 85 years of age, and for the past several years had made his home among his children.
Peace to the ashes of this man who had the honor of wearing the grey.
