Obituary of Jacob E. Fugate

March 3, 1871

Died, at the residence of his father, Isaac B. Fugate, in Russell county, Va., Dec. 15, 1870, JACOB E. FUGATE, aged 26 years and 9 months.

The following tribute of respect, adopted by the Church Conference, at McClure's Chapel, of which he was a member, will exhibit how he was esteemed by his brethren:

Whereas, in the Providence of Almighty God, our dearly beloved Brother, JACOB E. FUGATE, has been called from earth away to his reward; and whereas brother Fugate was one of the most pious members of this Church, always deporting himself as he becometh a member of the Church from the time he joined it, Therefore

Resolved, 1st, That while we meekly bow to this Providence, we deeply feel the loss of our brother, and greatly miss him in our social church meetings.

Resolved, 2nd, That while we mourn our loss, we believe he has gone to live with Jesus.

Resolved, 3d, That we emulate his good morals, pious walk and conversation, and his faithful attendance at Church.

JOHN HARRIS,
WM. GLENN,   Com.
J. C. FUGATE.
