Obituary of Charles Hayes Gilmer

April 30, 1926

C. Haze Gilmer Dies East Of Lebanon

C. Haze Gilmer, well known and prosperous farmer about 84 years of age and a Confederate soldier of the 29th Virginia Infantry, died at his home at an early hour Wednesday morning after serveral weeks illness.

He was an excellent soldier, citizen and a gentleman of the highest class.

Honesty and integrity were the dominating characteristics of a long and useful life.

Mr. Gilmer was never married and is survived by four brothers, James and T. P. Gilmer, of Lebanon; Cummings Gilmer, of Ponca, Neb., and M. G. Gilmer, of Douglas, Kansas.

Funeral services were conducted from the home Thursday and interment was made in the family cemetery near the house.

Thus ends a long and useful life and peace to his ashes.
