Obituary of James Page Gilmer

JAMES PAGE GILMER
James Page Gilmer was born at Hansonville, Russell county, Va., November 24, 1842. he served four years in the civil war and his captain said he was always ready for duty. He graduated in medicine in 1868 from Virginia Medical College, Richmond, and practiced in his home county until his health gave way about ten years ago. In 1911 he moved with his family to Fairfax county: in 1913 to Herndon. He has ben a faithful member of th M.E. church South for fifty years and has always lived a consistent Chrisian life. Being a man of extreme modesty, little of his life was known except to his intimate friends.
His death came very unexpectedly on Sunday, July 16, 1916, after a brief illness. He was always a kind and loving husband and father, and will be greatly missed in his home and by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife and two daughters Miss Lucy Gilmer and Mrs. Henry R. Steele. His body was tenderly laid to rest in Chestnut Grove cemetery. HERNDON OBSERVER
