November 2, 1923 Another Old Soldier Passes Away Here
G. W. Gray, aged Confederate soldier, farmer and citizen of Lebanon, passed away at the family home in Lebanon at an early hour Monday morning, following a rapid decline in health in the last few months.
Mr. Gray was a quiet, timid man, honorable and upright in all his dealings, and his going removes a familiar figure from our midst.
When the war broke out he first joined the 29th Virginia regiment, later re-enlisted in the 35th Cavalry and was in the campaign thru Kentucky.
Surviving him are his sons, Same and Tom Gray, of Missouri, Charles and Bill Gray, west of Lebanon, and the one daughter, Mrs. Florence Hess, of Lebanon.
