Obituary of Augustus A. Honaker

A. A. HONAKER DIED AT VERNON SUNDAY, JUNE 10

A. A. (Uncle Gus) Honaker, 84, prominent pioneer of Wichita county, was buried at Electra Monday afternoon. A native Virginian, he came to Texas in 1871, settled first in Collin county near Faremersville and then to Wichita county thirty-five years ago. He was one of the first settlers of Sunshine Hill, where members of his family still own land with oil production. He moved to Vernon ten years ago, retaining his property there. His death took place there Sunday morning. Surviving are three sons, S. E. Honaker, Vernon; Will Honaker, Wichita Falls, and J. Mart Honaker Electra, two daughters, Mrs. Otto Schlemeyer and Miss Alice Honaker, Electra.
