FRANKLIN HOWARD DEAD
Several Graham People Will Attend Funeral at Wittens Mills.

Franklin Howard, an aged and highly respected citizen, died at his home at Wittens Mills Tuesday night, after a brief illness of two weeks, due to a stroke of apoplexy, and will be buried at the family burial ground this afternoon at 3 o'clock.

He left surviving him his widow, Mrs. Amanda M. Howard, a daugther of the late Thomas W. Witten; four children, George W. Howard of Welch, W. Va.; Mrs. D. H. Litz, of Morristown, Tenn, Edward R. Howard and Miss Effie B. Howard of Witten's Mills, and one brother and three sisters.

The life of the deceased was a most exemplary one, worthy of the emulation of all. He was highly honored and respected by all who knew him and in his death his family has lost a devoted husband and father, and the community an esteemed and useful citizen. Mr. Howard was a brother-in-law of Dr. R. M. Witten, of Graham, his widow being a sister of Dr. Witten.

Several Graham people will attend the funeral. Dr. Witten, who is recovering from a surgical operation, will not be able to go, but other members of the family will attend.

The deceased was the father of attorney George Howard of Welch.
