Two Confederates Pass Out Past Week
Death has claimed a number of old Confederate soldiers in Russell in the last few months, thinning the already thin gray line of the memorable struggle of 1861-65.
The last to go was Joseph Williams, near Castlewood, aged 86, a member of the 22nd Virginia Cavalry, and Jessee Hubbard, 90 years of age, near Honaker. Mr. Hubbard was fifer in the 29th Virginia Infantry.
