W. C. HUMPHREYS DEAD AT HANFORD

After a severe illness of several weeks, W. C. Humphreys of Hanford passed away yesterday afternoon. His sons, John R. Humphreys, president of the Western Normal school of this city and Charles Humphreys had been with the family for some time. A stroke of apoplexy and heart weakness caused the end.

Mr. Humphreys has many friends in this city where he frequently visited. He is a veteran of the Civil War, having served with the Confederate army. Besides the two sons of this city he leaves a wife, two daughters, Mrs. Bina Alexander of Virginia and Mrs. Gertie Du Puy of Hanford, and two other sons, James Humphreys of Ohio and Samuel of Hanford. Mrs. Alexander and James Humphreys came out from the east a few days ago to be with their father. The funeral will be held in Hanford tomorrow.
