Obituary of John Wesley Steele

February 18, 1916 LEFT COUNTY 30 YEARS AGO; NOW DEAD News of the death of John W. Steele at McKinney, Texas, was received with regret. He was a Russell born man and some thirty years ago he migrated to Texas and soon became prosperous. Mr. Steele was a member of the 34th Virginia Battallion and was a good, loyal soldier. In 1870 he married Miss Lucinda Powers, of near Bolton, this county, residing in that vicinity until their removal to Texas. His whole life was that of an upright man. A brother, T.J. Steele, resides at Honaker.
