Obituary of William Lockhart

May 13, 1910

Wm. Lockhart Dead.

Our town and community was saddened Monday morning by the announcement of the death of William Lockhart. His death occurred Sunday night after a lingering illness.

The deceased was about 67 years of age and is survived by his widow and a large family of grown sons and daughters, being the father of fourteen children. Mr. Lockhart was a brave Confederate soldier and was in many hard battles, always acquitting himself with great bravery.

Besides being a devoted husband, a loving father and a good citizen, he was a consistent christian gentleman, a loyal member of the Missionary Baptist church. He now rests under the shades of the trees with Lee and Jackson.

The bereaved ones have the sympathy of the community. - Honaker Herald.
