Obituary of Robert Lynchfield Marcum

February 14, 1915

FATHER OF GEO. AND JOHN MARKHAM DIED ON SUNDAY
Deceased was 78 Years of Age and Had Lived Hear Huff and Ft. Rice Many Years.

Robert, father of Geo. H. and John W. Markham of Huff, aged 78 years, passed away at the Mandan hospital last Sunday afternoon at two o'clock due to old age, resulting, however, from complications of other immediate diseases. The funeral was held Tuesday morning at ten o'clock from the Methodist church at Ft. Rice, and interment was made in the cemetery near that place.

The aged gentleman had made his home in Morton county for almost a score of years, coming hear from Missouri, being a native of Virginia. During his residence he made his home on farms int eh vicinity of Huff and Ft. Rice. Though the deceased had been confined to his home during the last few years almost continually the neighbors were occasional visitors and enjoyed the company of the friendly old man.

Besides Geo. and John, Mrs. Mary E. Peel of Huff, is a surviving daughter who lives in these parts. Three other sons, W. R. of Bismarck, Marion C. of Leeton, Missouri, and James F. of Rogersville, Tennessee are left to mourn the loss of the aged father.
