September 19, 1913 Old Soldier Dead.
Monday night at Elk Garden Davey B. McFarlane, a brave and loyal confederate soldier, dropped out of the thin gray ranks of this earth and passed into eternal rest.
Mr. McFarlane was never married. Those who knew and lived hear him say he was an ideal citizen and kind hearted neighbor.
The burial took place Wednesday, several of his comrades attending the obseques.
