November 18, 1927 Aged Man Meets Death By Train
John D. Miller, sr., aged 83 years, well known throughout Russell county, met instant death last Friday morning by passenger train No. 12 one mile east of Swords Creek. Mr. Miller was walking the track meeting the train when the accident occurred. The head of the victim was badly bruised and one arm broken, but no other portion of his body was mutilated.
Mr. Miller was a member of the M. E. Church, a Mason and Confederate soldier.
Besides his aged widow he is survived by ten children.
Funeral services were conducted from the home of P. H. Miller Sunday, the Masonic fraternity having charge of the services.
