July 25, 1913 Marion Porter.
News of the death of uncle Marion Porter, at his home in lower Castlewood on July 4th just reached Lebanon this week. Mr. Porter was about 75 years of age, was a Confederate soldier, enduring many hardships during the long and bloody conflict, fighting for a cause that he knew was right and which was right.
The deceased was a firm believer in God and in Jesus Christ as the Savior of the world and was ready to die.
The shadows of death are rapidly falling across the paths of the gray haired confederates in this county - three having answered to the final bugle call in the past week.
