Obituary of Phillip J. Reynolds

October 30, 1914

Mr. Phillip J. Reynolds, one of the oldest and best known citizens of Washington county, died at his home near Abingdon, on Thursday of last week, in the 85th year of his age. The funeral and burial followed on Friday, conducted by Rev. Mr. Bellamy, paster of the Baptist church, of which deceased was a life-long and worthy member. He was a native of Russell county, and was twice married, first to a Miss Gilmer, of Russell, to whom two children were born, Mr. Chas. H. Reynolds, of Cavitt's Creek, this county, and a sister, Mrs. Bunday, now dead. Of the last marriage there were 8 children-seven of whom are living.
Deceased was a man of sterling character and undoubted integrity. He leaves behind him an enviable reputation.
