Capt. H. B. Roberts died this week at his home four miles west of
Abingdon. He had heart trouble and his death had been expected for a
month or longer. He was 66 years old and is survived by a widow and
seven children. At the age of seventeen he entered the confederate
service and was made captain of Company E, 14th Batallion, Virginia
Reserves. He was a man of means and his estate is estimated at more
than $100,000.
