November 20, 1914 Telegram Announces Death In Florida.
A telegram received Saturday by S. Aston from Cottondale, Fla., announced the death of Reynolds Shoemaker, a Russell born man. The deceased went to Florida years ago and at the time of his death was a very old man.
In many sections of Russell live relatives of the deceased, among them being the Astons, Grays, Shoemakers and Gilmers. A big estate is left by the deceased, he having accumulated quite a little fortune in the flower state.
[Editor's note: I think this death notice is actually for Johnson R. Shoemaker, the son of Reynolds Shoemaker. Johnson R. Shoemaker died on 11/14/1914 and is buried in the Cottondale Cemetery in Florida, along with his wife, Elizabeth Fickle Shoemaker. However, Johnson R. Shoemaker was only 62 years old at his death, hardly a "very old man." I think the editor confused the son with the father.]
