Death of Aged Man

George Skeen died at the home of his son, J. B. Skeen, in Turkey Cove, with whom he had been living for a number of years, on Monday. Mr. Skeen had been in feeble health on account of old age for some time and his death was not unexpected. Funeral services were conducted in the Baptist Church here on Tuesday morning by Rev. W. N. Wagner, pastor of the Southern Methodist Church, of which the deceased was a member, assisted by Rev. J. B. Craft, pastor of the Baptist Church, and interment took place in Glencoe Cemetery following the funeral services.

The deceased was one of the oldest men in Southwest Virginia, being past 93 years of age at the time of his death. He was born in Russell county but had lived in Wise and Lee counties practically all his life. He is survived by seven children as follows: Judge H. A. W. Skeen, of this place; J. B. and Miss Caroline Skeen, of Turkey Cove; J. F. Skeen, of San Antonio, Texas; Mrs. W. H. Wampler, Mrs. J. B. Tate and Mrs. James Gilly, of East Stone Gap.
