Remley Thomas, Old Soldier, Is Dead

Remley Thomas, his residence three miles east of Lebanon, died Friday, December 17, 1920 after a protracted illness of complications, old age aiding in his death. He was 76 years of age, born and raised in the Corner, near Lebanon.
In 1861 Mr. Thomas enlisted in Company H, twenty-first Virginia Cavalry, and served gallantly until October 1863, falling desperately wounded in the battle of Carter Station in Tennessee. In 1864 he rejoined his Company and served until the surrender.
Russell county never produced a better soldier than Remley Thomas. He was a good citizen and a Christian gentleman.
Besides a widow three children survive, one son, G.A. Thomas, and two daughters, Mrs. Minnie Howard and Mrs. Gussie Slate.
