A Well Known Citizen Died Early Yesterday Morning.

DEATH WAS EXPECTED BY HIS FAMILY

The Deceased Had Been Ill for Several Months - He was About 70 Years Old and was Prominent in Labor Circles.

J. B. Wampler, one of the best known citizens of Gadsden, died at his home on Cherry street this morning at four o'clock.

Mr. Wampler's death was not unexpected. His family had been prepared for the end for some time.

On Saturday it was announced that he was dying and yesterday morning he peacefully passed away.

Some several months ago Mr. Wampler was affected with malignant carbuncles and soon took to his bed. He suffered greatly and the shock to his system was greater than one of his age - he was near 70 - could withstand. He had all the medical attention and carefully nursing that skillful and loving bands could give but it was all of no avail.

The funeral will be held at the family residence on Cherry Street tomorrow morning at ten o'clock and the interment will be made in Forest cemetery.

J. B. Wampler was well known in the city. He was a native of Virginia and moved here several years ago. He followed the carpenter trade and was considered a find workman.

The deceased leaves a large family, all the children being grown.
