I seat my self this morning to writ you a few lies to let you now that I am well hoping these few lins will find you all well. I havent much of importance to write to you this morning I herd that George couing was a lected I never was as glad of any thing before I was going to town yesterdday I met 6 of our boys they told me that it was a hard time in russle and worst a coming. paw I can tell you about this bl[...] beef We hav to eat it is a nuf to kill eny dog to eat it if I was at home I could get something to eat hase is at city point. We haft to give one dollar a pound for soap we dont draw any soap We have to by our soap to wash our cloath and I call it a hard way a surving the lord. pau tell creed f tompson houdy tell creed taht I would like to see him very well tell Gran paw houdy heare where we campe the pine is as think as the hair on a dog back and they call this an old field the wheat it dos not look very well in this country. We havent had but one snow sents we hav binn hear the wether has binn verry prety. I am in hops that it will sill bee that way. I am very well satisfied better than I would bee if I was near home. We havint hurd off rievs sents we left blan county I would like to hear from him verry well. I must bring my letter close and go to setting somthing to eat I nv to make bread. I can beat most of the wimmin if they wil giv me the same vessal that hav and giv me the provision. I would like to see ol russal once more pau I would like to bee at home for to chop wood you in the flat woods.
