Dear Pa & Ma
I seat myself this morning to write you a few lines to inform you that I am well and hearty at the present.
Lafayett has got back from the hospital he got the the regiment this morning. Pa I want you to send me some thing to eat by Isaac Frikle he has gon home after clothing for the compny. James A. Gilmer has sent for some thing to eat and you & Uncle Billy can fix us up a box together. I want some butter chease sauchage meat and some molasses if you have any to send and some dryed beans dryed appes and any thing else that you wish to send that we can eat. Ma you need not send me any thing in the clothing line but some pants you may send me two pair of pants and let Sarah or Martha make me a handkerchief out of some old cloth that you have no use for for I have about wore out the one that brought from home with me. May I have four pair of socks that I have never had on and two pair that is tolerable good besides I am glad that you didnt send my overcoat it will do pa to wear in the wet.
I have drawed me a good over coat and a good jacket and I have plenty shirts & drawers and can draw more when I want them cheaper than you can get them at home. Pa & Ma I would like to write you a long and interesting but I have nothing new that would interest you their is nothing going on in camp now. I see in the papers that their are two divisions of yankees mooveing on Stanton in two directions but I suppose you have seen it. When you write direct your letters to co (I) 37 Va well pa as I have nothing nothing new to write I will bring my few and imperfect lines to a close yours most respectfully Wm. R. Gilmer
