Dear Pa
I once more seet myself to inform you that I am well and hope these few lines will find you all well our recruits has got up at last among them is John & Thomas Cowan and many others that I will not mention but I expect you know about all of them. I understa that you are left without any boddy to help you do anything I dont see how you are to get along their is no boddy to hire. If you get any boddy to help you write and let me know for I know you cant get along with out some boddy to help you. I would like to cum home a while this spring to see you all but I reckin I cant get off the times will not admit of it I would be verry glad to see you all and I hope the day is cumming when I will be permitted to see you all I have reinlisted and I dont know when I will get to cum home If I should live I will try to cum home this fall if not before. Hayes & Cummings volunteered in Smiths coumpany write and let me know what Charles has dun I heard that he was with the malitia but I dont know whether it was so or not. Pa I havent any news to write to you only about our fight but I recken you know all about it by this time I expect George is at home by this time if you all want to send me any thing you can send them by him. Tell Sarah to send me some shugar and any little trick they wish to send so nothing more at present but remain your son Wm R. Gilmer
