June the 14 1861 Dear Brothers, We recived your kind letter wednesday evening and was verry glad to hear from you pa took a letter to twon to send you but did not send it we will send them this eveng. the letters we get from you is dear to us, we use to be glad to get a letter from you when you wer at the colleg but never as glad as we are now. we was verry glad to hear you was trusting in your god to presereved you in the hours of danger I hope Rives and all the rest dos, when pa brought ytour letter home I found the place on the map for him wher you were and wher you was going philippi I lok at it of ten for it is as nere as we can get to you we are all well as common and hope thes few lions will find you all well my head hurts I cannot sleepe much of nights with out I knew you both had good beds like us, you must excuse bad writeing and speling I could right getter if you were aney wher else. I believ our saveior will go with you all through war and if you get killed I belive he will take you to his armes and I will come thir too. george cred reads your letters pa canot read your letters for aney body for crying and nobody elce(hardly) nancy tignor aunt anie mrs. walden, charity mrs fields was abat me all day yesturday to read your letters for them I read them we never got rives letter till we got till wednesday we read it and wold be glad to read one everyday if they are wrote every so bad I dont know you both write as good as you do we are a going to send your letters to cusin mary rives you must have your likenes taken if you can you both may be dead when this comes if you are you are happy.
