Horses Stolen

On Thursday last, James Martin and George Bays, both of Russell county, Va., members of Capt. Boyd's Company, Hodge's Brigade, but representing that they belonged to Colonel Witcher's command, stole from my sister, widow Sage of Lee county, a Gray Mare, very fine and of good size, aged about 15 years; also a dark Bay or Brown Mare, about the same age, has one white hind foot and a small star in the forehead. Both have harness marks, and are in good order. These thieves, or robbers, have deserted their command, and are straggling thro' the country with their stolen property, doubtless with a view of trading it. Maj. Tenny, commanding Brigade, has issued orders for the arrest of these outlaws.
Enrolling Officers, Provo Guards, citizens and all honest soldiers will feel it not only a duty, but a privilege to aid in bringing the theives to justice and the property to its rightful owner. Any information of the wherabouts of the property handed to Dr. Loyd of Lee county, will reach Mrs. Sage and be suitably rewarded.
