OLDEST CONFEDERATE.
Outline of the Career of a Confederate Veteran of Russell County.
Is a Virginia Vet Who Has the "Age" on the Kentuckian.

Last week we asked if there was a Confederate veteran older than the one then referred to. The following letter shows that there is. We presume Veteran Lee can't be beaten.
Editor of the Times-Dispatch:

Sir. - I see in your last Sunday's edition that Dr. Wall, who is ninety-four years old, is believed to be the oldest Confederate veteran living. Maithas Lee, of Honaker, Russell county, Va., is 102 years old, and is remarkably active. He enlisted in Captain Sim Hunt's company, Thirty-seventh Virginia Regiment, in 1861, and served through the war. He was a gallant soldier. Three years ago he attended the reunion at Louisville, Ky., and is making his calculations to attend next year. He can read without the aid of glasses.

Respectfully,
J. W. BAUSELL,
Commander, McElhaney Camp, U. C. V., Lebanon, Va.
