Service Record:
Served in Company I of the 34th Virginia Cavalry, formerly Company F of the 6th Cavalry Battalion. In his 1909 Pension he states: "I first enlisted in the 10th Ky. Regiment, Hodges Brigade, Capt. McFarlane's Co. and that I served with this regiment till the Spring of 1864 when we were transferred to Co. I, 34th Va. Cav. We were under Gen. Witcher. I was with Gen. Witcher when he raided WV. I was with him at Saltville where he fought Stoneman and Burbage and I surrendered with the said Gen. Witcher at Christianburg, Va." Also shown as 5th Sergeant of Company G, 13th Battalion Virginia Reserves.
