Enlisted as a private in Company C of the 37th Virginia Infantry on 4/22/61 at Abingdon. Re-enlisted at Camp Mason on 2/18/62. Admitted to Chimborazo Hospital on 10/11/63 with a fever. Returned to duty 11/13/63. Captured 5/12/64 at Spotsylvania Courthouse and sent from Belle Plain to Fort Delaware on 5/20/64. Released on oath 5/21/65. Height 6'2", ruddy complection, dark hair, grey eyes.
