Major A. G. Brady

Sir. I deserted the rebel army on the 10th November and came into the Union camp at Winchester the 13th Nov. where I was put under guard with a lot of prisoners and told that I would have to go to Harpers Ferry before I could take the oath of allegiance, and when I had got to Harpers Ferry they refused to let me take the oath telling me that I would have to go to Point Lookout and take the oath there.
If you will, Sir, it so that I can get out of here I will work at any Government work that I can or do any thing for the Government except volunteer to be a soldier, please do all you can for me, I belong to Company "C. 9th Divisions Please let me know what you can do for me at your earliest convenience.
Yours Respectfully
Jerome Barger
