Sir,

I herewith inform you that R. C. Boyd, 37th Va. Regiment Co. C, Capt. Duff was transferred to this Hospital from Staunton on the 13th inst: and that he has gone off (it is said, to Lynchburg) without permission.
Said Boyd is reported to have been a Major in the 48th Va., before becoming a Private in the 37th.

I CERTIFY, That the within named Robert C. Boyd a private of 1st Lieut. John V. [...] Duff Company (C) of the 37th Regiment of Virginia Vol., born in Russell County in the State of Virginia, aged 48 years, 5 feet, 10 1/2 inches high, dark complexion, black eye, black hair, and by profession a farmer was enlisted by Capt. J. H. Candler at Lebanon on the 10 day of June 1862, to serve One year, and is now entitled to discharge by reason of expiration of his term of Service.
The said R. C. Boyd was last paid by Capt. [...] Coal to include the 28th day of February, 1862, and has pay due from that date to the present.

There is due him fifty nine Dollars.
He is indebted to the Confederate States fifty dollards for clothing not drawn.
