CERTIFICATE OF DISABILITY FOR DISCHARGE.

James A. Buckels a private, of Captain John M. Candlers Company (K), of the 48th Virginia Regiment of Confederate States Army, was enlisted by Captain John M. Candler, of the 48th Regiment of Virginia Vols. at Lebanon Virginia on the 25th day of June 1861, to serve one year; he was born in Johnson Co. in the State of Tennessee, is Twenty years of age, five feet, two inches high, fair complexion, hazle eyes, dark hair, and by occupation when enlisted a Farmer. During the last six months said soldier has been unfit for duty 180 days.

[Remainder of discharge, approved, March 5, 1863.]

I CERTIFY that I have carefully examined the said James A. Buckels of Captain John M. Candlers Company and find him incapable of performing the duties of a soldier because of a Gunshot wounds of the right arm resulting in loss of use of the right hand, said wound was received in the battle of Manassas Augt. 30, 1863, I recommend his discharge.
