The name Larkin Fletcher has not been found on the muster rolls on file in this office of any company of the 29th Regiment Virginia Infantry, Confederate States Army.

The service of Captain Sample has not been identified as of that organization.

The records show, however, that Larkin Fletcher, Private, Company I, 37th Regiment Virginia Infantry, Confederate States Army, enlisted May 2, 1861 at New Garden. He was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant September 23, 1862. Muster roll for November and December, 1862, last roll on file, show him absent, "at Hospital, reduced to ranks November 21, 1862." Union records show that he was captured May 12, 1864, near Spotsylvania Court House, imprisoned at Point Lookout Md, and Fort Delaware, Delaware, at which place he was paroled October 30, 1864, and received November 15, 1864, at Venus Point, Savannah, River, by Confederate States Agent for exchange. No later record has been found. William P. Samples was 2nd Lieutenant of the company. No list of battles in which this organization participated has been compiled in this office.
